1915 DWM Luger

#6657-f

1915 DWM P.08 "Luger" pistol, number 6657-f, including a mag loading/disassembly tool, 2 matching magazines and a brown leather holster with matching serial number!

This Luger P.08 pistol rig is a WWI vet bring-back.  According to the family, the soldier was in the Canadian Army and brought everything home with him.  Unfortunately, the soldier's name and rank are unknown.

All parts are properly numbered, including the firing pin and all internal parts, the grips (faint) and TWO original magazines.  The firing pin has not been modified with fluting as was done with pistols still in service between the Wars.  This is a very nice looking pistol and very difficult to find in this condition and with two matching magazines and a matching holster.

Condition:

The finish on all pieces is original and shows some service and storage wear.  Finish is lightly worn in the usual places from holstering.  Front and back grip straps show wear likely from storage in a rack (rather than frequent use).  Grips  show little wear but do have some black oil staining at the edges.  Strawed parts show discoloration (strawing is not a durable finish) and there is some speckling scattered on the pistol.  No pitting or active rust anywhere on the pistol.  The bore is very good with no pitting.

The holster is showing its age with wear and scuffs.  This pistol and holster saw service in the Great War and then was probably carried around with the capturing soldier's gear.   Some stitching is missing or rotted away along one edge (see photo) and in one area on the rear.  The holster is not dried out or cracking.  The spare magazine pouch is worn through in one small spot.  The lifting strap for the pistol is intact and functional.  Markings on the front (just under the flap) read "C. Billep Spandau 15".
